Madeira

I love the process of photography as a means of documenting life. I’ve taken to keeping a travel journal when we go on holiday, but the images that come home with those notes are also a key part of retaining the experience for me. Madeira is located in the Atlantic Ocean and forms part of Micronesia. Our visit here was the first time I’d captured images after realising the components of photography I wanted to form my ‘style’. The culture, people and food of the island are very appealing, and a great draw to go back. It was also the first time i’d experimented with the unedited photography approach on a foreign holiday, meaning I had to work with people being in some of the images. Rather than trying to eliminate them trying to make them a core part of the compositions was an interesting new challenge. I learnt things by doing this that have helped me with event photography and photos for my clients since. Its nice to see how skills from different experiences blend across between one another.
